This role is home based with a requirement to attend up to 2 staff away days each year in Northamptonshire.

About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant the role will support the finance team to provide an accurate, efficient and effective finance service to the business and our wider stakeholders.
Your main responsibilities will include:
* Maintain the integrity of the finance systems and financial data including fixed asset register management ensuring additions, disposals and depreciation are posted and reconciled back to the General Ledger monthly.
* Ensure compliance with all internal controls and financial procedures, including preparing and reviewing control accounts and other reconciliations
* Contribute to the year-end Financial Accounts process, to include supporting preparation of the annual financial statements and liaising with the external audit team during the interim and final year end audits.
* Provide support for the treasury and cash flow management activities of Greatwell Homes.
* Prepare the monthly VAT return to HMRC for review within agreed deadlines and ensuring accuracy. Support with the submission of other financial returns to external stakeholders as required.
* Help with budget setting, forecasts and variance analysis
What we are looking for
Our successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
* Experience of working within an accountancy/finance environment and adherence to internal controls and financial policies and procedures including reconciliations.
* Be AAT Qualified (or equivalent)
* Experience in the month end and year-end financial accounting function and preparation of financial returns.
* Ability to analyse and interpret financial and non-financial information and solve problems.
* Attention to detail, ability to communicate effectively and ability to manage personal workloads and prioritise tasks.
* Be a team player with the ability to work independently when required.
