Job Introduction
At Radio Bristol we're really proud of our social media content and its power to reach new audiences. We've won awards for our creativity and have a strong track record in innovating and trying out new kit. Based in our multi-media newsroom in Bristol, you'll work closely with our colleagues in local news and BBC Sounds creating social media content that appears on our accounts, primarily focusing on how we make the most of our audio offer on socials.
Main Responsibilities
You'll work with producers in digital and audio to decide what content will work for our BBC Bristol socials, determine the best treatment, and then create it for each of our accounts. You'll know what's a perfect match for each situation - whether a bold infographic or a short video is best. You'll always be aware of what's trending locally and you'll let your colleagues know which stories are performing well on socials and are connecting with our target audiences. Working with the local online and news team as well as fellow digital producers in the West, you'll determine what content you want to make each day. You'll be responsible for setting up pieces - persuading contributors to be filmed and deciding where to shoot. You will be required to attend meetings (via Teams) to discuss your prospects with your colleagues, and you'll be generous at sharing ideas and leads. You will also be responsible for deciding the best time to publish content, and you'll personally schedule the posts. You'll then monitor them to see how they're performing and reply to comments when necessary.
Are you the right candidate?
* Have knowledge of FCP (Final Cut Pro) and be confident using it for making social media content.
* Have an awareness of who we're targeting with our content and how it fits into the Local Value for All strategy, and be able to decide what type of content is suitable for our different accounts.
* Be aware of the BBC's Social Media guidelines, and be able to analyse how well your posts are doing and learn lessons from what works and what doesn't work.
* Have knowledge of Bristol and the wider patch is preferable though not essential, and you'll need to have skills to edit audio in order to make radio versions of your vids.
