We have an exciting opportunity for a 12 month fixed term contract for a Senior Designer in our Seasonal team. You'll have a wide remit covering print, pattern & product development across a broad set of categories including Christmas, gifting, eventing, stationery, dinnerware, party, garden & outdoor. You'll be hands on, and working with wider Buying, Sourcing & innovation teams, and expect time to be split between our product development centres in Bradwell (Milton Keynes) and Ansty Park (Coventry). We work flexibly, and you can choose to work from home too - typically colleagues need to spend around 2-3 days a week in an office location. A driving license will be an advantage. What you'll do: As a Senior Designer, you will lead the design and product development team for print, pattern, and product development across a broad array of categories, and you'll be an active designer in the team. You will be responsible for delivering inspirational designs that align with the values of the category vision and ambition. You will manage relationships with product development teams and the design teams behind the suppliers to create original, exclusive products. Leading the way as a manager and mentor, you will take ownership of your category and develop others within the team. With a strong eye for seasonal trends, you will ensure that your ranges are filled with newness that reflects the brands within the Sainsbury's Group. Utilising your expertise in Photoshop and Illustrator, you will confidently deliver innovative and commercially viable products for a diverse range of customer types. Effective communication and the ability to represent the team in front of key stakeholders will be vital, as you coordinate and manage the critical path, ensuring that all deadlines are met. You'll line manage a team of 4 experienced designers and product developers in UK & Shanghai. Travel will be required to attend meetings in both the Ansty Park, Coventry office & Bradwell PDC, alongside ad hoc supplier, inspiration & sourcing activity. With a proven track record in delivering creative and commercially successful designs, you have a keen eye for key seasonal trends and the ability to create innovative and commercial product ranges. As a manager and mentor, you lead and develop your team, while also establishing strong relationships with product development teams and suppliers. Your expertise in brand management, technical knowledge, and understanding of manufacturing processes enables you to design and deliver products that meet safety, quality, and legal requirements. With your strong communication skills and ability to influence diverse audiences, you confidently represent the team in front of key stakeholders and effectively manage the critical path to meet deadlines.
