We build and operate automated factories for composite materials, delivering components to Tier 1 and OEMs. The business has 3 main divisions that focus on the development of automated production machines, development of software design and production tools and lastly the operation of the factory.
Now working with >25 customers (multiple leading OEMs) and earlier this year we completed the largest ever Series A in composites manufacturing to fuel a significant scale-up with growth plans that will see the business multiply in size over the next 2-3 years and expand operations into Europe and the US.
The business currently has facilities in Gloucester UK (Factory 1), Bristol UK (Hardware R&D Centre) and in Athens GR (Software R&D Centre).

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Composites Manufacturing Engineer to work in our dynamic team of Manufacturing Engineers. As a key member of our Manufacturing Engineering Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring component designs are productionised and suitable for manufacture, optimising the manufacturing processes. You will also act as a subject matter expert for the commercial team and support the proposal and quotation process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in composite materials and manufacture, a deep understanding of manufacturing principles, along with a passion for innovation and cost saving.
What will you be doing?
Process Development:
* Lead the development of manufacturing processes for composite components, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help integrate composite materials into new and existing products.
Material Selection and Testing:
* Support Design Engineering as required with analysis of composite materials to determine suitability for specific applications.
Tooling and Equipment Design:
* Provide Concept of Design for Patterns, Moulds, Jigs / Fixtures to optimise Production times, Yield and accuracy.
* Work closely with tooling vendors to ensure the manufacturing tooling meets quality and performance standards.
Quality Assurance:
* Ensure all manufacturing documentation / instruction complies with quality standards and customer approvals.
* Work with appropriate Team on MRB Reviews to Investigate and resolve any issues related to product quality, process deviations, or non-conformances.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency gains in the composites manufacturing process.
* Implement Lean Manufacturing principles within the process to enhance overall production efficiency.
Documentation and Compliance:
* Support the creation of BoM’s, Purchasing Specifications, Routings, MoM’s, Testing / Inspection Requirement Sheets that provide all the information / processes to procure, manufacture and achieve compliance, doing so in a safe, repeatable manner.
* Ensure adherence to quality, safety and environmental standards.
Training and Support:
* Provide training and support to production teams to ensure a thorough understanding of composite manufacturing processes.
* Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues.
* Provide technical support for proposals sent by the commercial teams.
* Work with Project Managers as required on orders received.
What do we need from you?
* We appreciate relevant engineering qualifications (Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field) but we equally value practical hands-on experience.
* Proven experience in composites manufacturing, with a focus on process development and optimization.
* Strong understanding of composite materials, their properties, and applications.
* Proficiency standard to be able to interrogate CAD files and technical drawings to provide support on Quotations, Design and Inspection.
* Knowledge of quality control methodologies and standards, (AS9100 desirable).
* Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
