Operations Manager (Film & Events)
Showbase is a rapidly expanding event production company, based near Tatton Park in Cheshire. We work with a number of exciting clients, at some of the region's most talked about events. We are recruiting to our operations management team!
We are looking for a practical and organised leader to work alongside our project management team to manage personnel, inventory and vehicles to deliver a wide range of events.
You will be responsible for stock, estate and vehicle logistics, and task manage crews of 6-10 in the preparation of stock at base and the installation of event equipment on location.
You will be joining the company at an exciting time in its growth trajectory, and will be at ground level in taking the company to its next level of development. We are a small team, and you will be a valued part of its inner workings in the next phase of the company's plans.
Role Specification
Crew Management
* Overseeing crew at warehouse and on location, encouraging timely and professional results, and ensuring all field reports are completed and submitted on time, and health and safety best practices are being followed.
* Publishing crew rotas, job sheets and crew task lists, using our project and team management apps.
* Assisting with the recruitment of install crew, alongside senior management.
* Identifying performance issues and working with senior management to implement and oversee improvement plans.
* Booking in health & safety / driving / plant training courses and re-training and keeping personnel files updated with certification and licenses, using our team management app.
Stock Management
* Overseeing warehouse logistics, to ensure stock is maintained to rental standards and is kept organised, according to the company's inventory management app.
* Organising and scheduling stock movement and maintenance, including loading in and out, cleaning, repairs and storage.
* Identifying stock shortages and working alongside the Project Management team to ensure solutions are in place.
* Ensuring the warehouse and general areas are kept in good order, and identifying and arranging the rectification of any health & safety issues.
* Maintaining the security of company headquarters, including fob management and gate and door management.
* Cleaning, storage and warehouse requisition, following company purchasing procedures.
* Managing crew in construction and repair projects at the company's farm location, working alongside senior management to identify timelines and briefs.
Vehicle Management
* Overseeing vehicle maintenance and repair orders
* Keeping insurance details up to date
* Monitoring vehicle logs and tracker records
Experience Required
You will have experience of working in back office in an events, construction or rental house environment.
Demonstrable experience of managing teams of people, with examples of performance improvement methodology, and team time management skills.
Experience of stock and inventory management, including the use of asset management software, labelling, tracking and quarantine processes.
Person Spec:
Our preferred person has experience in fast-turnaround live events or production planning (film, tv or touring), due to the pace of the role and requirements to interpret and understand large-scale event plans.
* You will be a confident leader, who can deal with multiple personality types in a positive and results-focused way.
* You will be a quick-thinking and adaptable person, who is not daunted by the fast pace and ever-changing environment of the events industry.
* You will be competent at picking up a variety of different types of software and shows excitement to contribute to best practice process improvements.
* You will be practically-minded, and able to understand technical information relating to event equipment, construction processes, plant and stock.
* You will be a highly organised individual, who is able to deal with multiple streams of information and keep clear and up-to-date records.
* You will have good maths skills, and an ability to interpret and calculate resource and material requirements.
* You will be pro-active, positive and professional.
Qualifications Required
GCSE Mathematics B / 6 or above
