NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board
As a Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician - Repeat Prescribing, you will be supporting GP practices to identify areas of improvement within their repeat prescribing processes and systems.
The role is based within the Repeat Prescribing and Support team working with pharmacy technicians and assistants. The team is friendly and supportive, and you will also help to guide the ongoing development of the work projects.
The Repeat Prescribing and Support team is part of the wider Medicines Optimisation team, and there will be additional opportunities to learn and work with other members of the team.
The role is largely home-based or working out in GP practices across Norfolk and Waveney. There is no weekend or bank holiday working in this role, and flexible working patterns can be considered.
We are interested to receive applications for both full and part-time working with a minimum of 18.75 hours. The role would be ideal for those pharmacy technicians still working in practice or who have had experience of working in a GP or PCN role, but applications are welcomed from all sectors of practice. Please note you must be a GPhC registered pharmacy technician to apply for this role.
Main duties of the job
The role of Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician - Repeat Prescribing involves contacts with multiple partners within the ICS including GP practices and community pharmacies, involving both clinical and non-clinical staff. You will work on defined projects with practices to improve repeat prescribing safety and cost. You will support practices to make improvement changes and embed these.
The post will use data from multiple sources to highlight areas of need and consider patients with health inequalities and how they might require additional support to access their medicines.
The role is varied and may also involve supporting work such as developing policies or training.
About us
Health and care services in Norfolk and Waveney are working closely together to further improve services and provide more joined-up care for local people. In Norfolk and Waveney, we have already achieved a lot by working in partnership to improve health and care outcomes. These changes have been made possible by different organisations - NHS hospitals, GPs, mental health and community health services, local councils, care homes and social workers, voluntary and community organisations and others - joining forces to agree and plan for local people's needs.
Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS) includes a statutory Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) and an Integrated Care Board (ICB) called NHS Norfolk and Waveney. This partnership and organisation dedicated to making sure that organisations work together for the benefit of our residents, staff, and communities is an important step change, helping to create positive differences to local people and joining up health and social care. This is the culmination of many years of effort to build partnership working across the NHS, local authorities, the third sector, and patient groups.
