About The Team
The P&C team works on mission-critical systems that govern the movement of trains, digital information, and payment systems across London. We are responsible for planning, strategizing, and procuring every essential component that TfL needs to deliver millions of journeys daily.
With responsibility for the significant £6bn+ spend needed to keep London moving, the commercial activity driven by P&C ensures we get the best return on investment and deliver outstanding long-term value.
The Roles
London Trams Background
London Trams is part of the TfL Group and is responsible for the tram network in Croydon, Wimbledon, Beckenham, and New Addington. The Trams P&C team works closely with delivery teams on operational activities and project works.
Fleet
The Commercial Manager positions focus on pre & post-contract management within the P&C team in London Underground Fleet. These roles will be responsible for procuring and managing a portfolio of high-value, high-profile, and complex supply contracts that contribute to the £500m Central Line Improvement Project (CLIP). This is an excellent opportunity for a capable individual to support and lead in the procurement and successful delivery of projects while achieving value for money for our organization.
Infrastructure
These Commercial Manager roles support the Infrastructure part of Operations, responsible for a diverse portfolio of categories, including Lifts, Escalators, Signals, Power, Cooling, and minor civils.
London Trams
We are currently seeking Operational Commercial Managers to work alongside maintenance managers for Power, Civils, Track, Communication Systems, and Fleet on various supply, services, and works contracts. The role involves procurement and post-contract management activities in a live operational environment.
We are also looking to recruit Project Commercial Managers into the London Trams P&C team. The work covers programmes of works on tram vehicles, depot, and infrastructure.
Rail and Sponsored Services
This opportunity involves joining the Outsourced Operations team that manages the end-to-end sourcing and contract management for a broad portfolio, including London Cable Car, Woolwich Ferry, London River Services, and Micro-mobility initiatives.
To succeed in these roles, the job holder will need to collaborate effectively with procurement and delivery colleagues to identify best value opportunities and apply compliant and best practice procurement processes.
Indirects
Join TfL's Indirects Procurement Team and source a diverse array of goods and services across several Indirects categories, including Marketing, People, Professional Services, Vehicles, and Social Initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
The roles may entail pre and post-contract management. Key accountabilities include:
1. Collating customer requirements and specifications to develop procurement strategies and plans.
2. Utilising e-procurement tools to maximise efficiency and control of the procurement process.
3. Preparing appropriate forms of contract to clarify deliverables and responsibilities.
4. Identifying, assessing, and reducing potential risks to commercial agreements.
5. Planning, delivering, and managing procurement activities to deliver contracts.
6. Managing cost analysis and understanding their impact on pricing.
7. Managing construction, engineering, supply, and service contracts.
8. Preparing detailed analysis of variances and understanding earned value concepts.
9. Formulating negotiation parameters and analysing commercial data.
10. Managing claims and advising on their defence.
11. Chairing performance meetings with suppliers.
12. Supporting organisational and personal development programmes.
13. Liaising with third-party funders on externally funded projects.
