Rate of Pay: £12.69 - £16.10 per Hour
Summary:
The HR Assistant is responsible for delivering operational excellence across a range of HR processes, including HR Advisory, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Contracts, FOI requests, DBS checks, and invoice processing. The role also supports the payroll function, escalating payroll-related issues as needed across the Council. Additionally, the role includes handling non-complex casework regarding absence management, grievance, and disciplinary matters, while ensuring compliance with HR policies and legislation.
Responsibilities:
* HR Operations Support: Manage daily HR operations by responding to customer requests related to absence data, casework, recruitment, workforce reporting, and systems support. Act as the first point of contact for HR queries, providing accurate information on policy applications and ensuring effective triage of more complex cases to the appropriate team.
* Case Management & Advisory: Engage in non-complex casework, including absence management, disciplinary, and grievance cases. Provide accurate and timely advice to line managers, supporting them to follow HR policies and processes effectively while minimizing risk.
* Data Management & Compliance: Maintain and update HR systems and databases, ensuring all records comply with the Data Protection Act, GDPR, and Council policies. Ensure the accuracy of employee records and provide reports and insights on workforce data to support decision-making.
* Collaboration & Communication: Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, colleagues, and external partners. Attend in-person meetings as required and provide on-site support on a designated day each week.
Qualifications:
* CIPD Associate qualification (or working towards) and/or equivalent relevant experience.
* Strong understanding of HR processes, including absence management, disciplinary, and grievance procedures.
* Proven experience providing HR support in a customer-focused organization.
Essential:
* Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify and present key insights.
* Strong organizational and time management skills to handle a varied workload.
* Excellent communication skills to provide clear advice to employees and managers.
