We are seeking a dedicated Neurology Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists. In this role, you will work closely with our Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, and fellow VCAs, providing essential care and support to patients in the Neurology department of our multidisciplinary hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide vital nursing care to patients in the neurology department, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing.
* Assist Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses during diagnostic and surgical procedures.
* Prepare and maintain clinical areas and surgical theatres for procedures.
* Ensure proper storage, organisation, and sterility of surgical equipment and attire.
* Support the wider clinical team in delivering exceptional patient care.

SCVS are a specialist-led small animal hospital equipped with the expertise and knowledge to support the most complex of cases. As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we offer impressive facilities and state-of-the-art equipment which enable us to provide outstanding treatment to our patients from the initial consultation right through to discharging them from our care. We are conveniently based in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31.
We have an outstanding team of recognised specialists across a multitude of disciplines. We also have a dedicated rehabilitation team who provide physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to aide post-operative recovery. The care and comfort of our patients is always at the front of our minds.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience in veterinary and/or animal care roles is ideal; an animal-related qualification such as an animal management course is highly desirable. Full training is provided, although you do need to be comfortable working within an environment that can be busy and challenging. Teamwork, attention to detail and working to high standards whilst working in a fast-paced environment is essential.
You will be a professional, committed person, who will be dedicated to the care and welfare of our patients. Your ability to work independently, use initiative and communicate well within a team is of great importance, as well as a hard-working and eager nature. Being caring and confident when approaching and handling small animals is vital.
Working Hours
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm, with 1:5 weeks requiring working from 12:00pm to 9:00pm and a weekend on call for surgical procedures.
