Water Hygiene Plumbing Supervisor

Reports to: Operations Manager
Job Purpose: The Water Hygiene Plumbing Supervisor will oversee a team of plumbing and water hygiene engineers responsible for maintaining high-quality water hygiene standards across various commercial and industrial sites. The role will ensure compliance with Legionella control regulations, manage plumbing maintenance tasks, and provide technical support. While office-based, this position involves site visits and coordination with field engineers to ensure safety, regulatory, and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Supervision & Management: Supervise and provide guidance to a team of engineers, ensuring they adhere to best practices in plumbing and water hygiene. Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations.
2. Plumbing Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee and support plumbing maintenance and repair activities, including the inspection and replacement of pipework, fittings, and fixtures in line with water hygiene standards.
3. Legionella Control & Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with Legionella control regulations (including L8). Implement and monitor control measures, including regular risk assessments, to prevent Legionella growth.
4. Quality Assurance & Health & Safety: Ensure all work adheres to safety protocols, conducting regular audits and inspections. Address any potential hazards and implement corrective measures as necessary.
5. Client Management & Support: Act as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and addressing any concerns. Develop strong relationships to ensure client satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
6. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all plumbing and water hygiene activities, ensuring reports are up-to-date and readily available for compliance checks.
7. Continuous Improvement & Development: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. Relevant Experience: Proven experience leading a team of engineers or technicians within the plumbing and water hygiene industry. Experience in managing both office and field-based activities.
2. Plumbing Expertise: Strong understanding of plumbing systems and maintenance practices. Experience with water hygiene-related plumbing work is highly desirable.
3. Legionella Control Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Legionella control regulations and experience implementing water hygiene programs.
4. Health & Safety: Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe working practices within a plumbing and water hygiene context.
5. Organizational Skills: Excellent planning, scheduling, and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
6. Customer Service: Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
Qualifications:
1. Plumbing Certification: Relevant plumbing qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating or equivalent.
2. Legionella Awareness Training: Certification in Legionella risk management (L8) and water hygiene practices.
3. Additional Certifications (Desirable): City and Guilds water industry certifications and any other relevant qualifications in plumbing or water hygiene.
Working Conditions:
Based in Glasgow, with regular travel to various client sites. Standard working hours with flexibility required to meet client needs or attend site visits. Coordination with field engineers for on-site tasks and assessments.
