Band 6 Occupational Therapist
Based within the Child Development Team, North Aberdeenshire.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to work within the Paediatric Service in Combined Child Health. This post is based within the Child Development team principally in Aberdeenshire North.
The post holder will provide assessment and treatment programmes for children with a wide variety of conditions and complex needs in the patient population. The post holder will be required to deliver an Occupational Therapy service to children in a range of settings i.e. home, school, nurseries, clinics, and joint therapy clinics. The post will be based in North Aberdeenshire with the majority of cases being within Inverurie and Banff Area. There are CDT bases in both Inverurie Community Campus and Fraserburgh hospital which can be accessed by the post holder and agreements will be made about where the suitable candidate should be based.
Due to the large geographical area and lone working, the post holder will require excellent communication, organisational skills, and effective time management. Multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working is essential for seamless care, and the Occupational Therapist is a vital part of this. The post holder will have access to therapy suites in CDT Bases and joint multi-disciplinary and shared clinics are regular practice within the service.
A genuine interest in working with children is essential, with previous paediatric experience beneficial but not essential. Applicants with relevant transferable skills are very welcome to apply, with appropriate training being provided for the successful candidate.
There may be a role in the supervision of Occupational Therapy staff. Training of students is an integral part of the job, as is service development within the wider Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team.
Rotation within the Paediatric Occupational Therapy service may be available as an opportunity and can be considered at a future stage to work within another area of the service i.e. Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
We are a progressive, supportive team and offer regular support, supervision, CPD, and development opportunities in line with TURAS. A flexible working policy is integrated across our service.
There is currently a lease car application available for this post.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on March 25th, 2025.
We welcome visits and enquiries. To arrange this please contact: Fiona Wyllie 01467 672771 Senior Occupational Therapist or Amy Johnston Senior Occupational Therapist 01346 585143.
An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available to successful applicants on application, finance to approve.
