Despatch Manager ABOUT CYGNUS INSTRUMENTS Cygnus Instruments manufactures state of the art, ruggedised, ultrasonic measuring equipment used in global industrial and subsea applications, shipping these products to approx. 80 countries per year. THE ROLE As the Despatch Manager, you will be responsible for the co-ordination, processing, outward logistics and exporting required to fulfil customers' orders. Key Responsibilities: Management: Managing and mentoring a team of two operatives, including the responsibility of the day to day running of the team, distributing of tasks and liaising with other team members. Co-ordination: Be a key link between Operations, sales and the customer - providing status on lead times and availability and ensure pipeline expectations are met. Shipment Processing: Manage the packing and processing of goods for despatch; ensuring courier collections are booked in accordance with customer instructions and the correct paperwork. Legislation: Ensure the business is fully up to date with current import & export legislations, incoterms, harmonised codes and relevant dangerous goods (lithium ion) requirements. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Skills and experience Working knowledge of quote and order processing using an integrated system. Experience of managing a small team within a fast-paced operation Understanding of ERP & MRP systems (preferable) Strong knowledge of import/export (ongoing training provided). Good level of numeracy skill and comfortable dealing with figures. Personal qualities Strong attention to detail and driven to achieve high standards. Ability to prioritise, multitask and remain calm under pressure, and to strict deadlines. Good communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to speak, read and write in English clearly and accurately Proactive approach to work, anticipating potential issues and dealing with them effectively.
