Job Title: ABA Teaching Assistant Salary/Rate: £22,350 pa, depending on experience and qualifications Location: Acton Industry: Education Milk Education are in partnership with a two-sited primary and secondary school who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistants who have previous experienced as an ABA or interested in being trained as an ABA Tutor The school are guided by the science of applied behaviour analysis (ABA) including Skinners Analysis of Verbal Behaviour. Pupils receive an individually devised programme to promote communication an independence with also having delivered specific interventions on a 1:1 and small group basis by subject specialist teachers and tutors. Pupils are part of a class group consisting of 6 pupils and 6 ABA tutors led by a teacher and ABA supervisor. They access 1:1 provision as well as group teaching, therapies, social play and generalisation throughout the day. ABA Teaching Assistant duties and responsibilities: Supervise and support pupils to ensure their safety and access to learning. Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities. Attend to the pupil’s personal needs and implement related personal programmes, i. Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate. Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes. Promote self-esteem and independence. Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement. Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others Participate in assessment of pupils, e.g., VBMAPP, AFLLS, lesson reviews. Carry out a variety of therapy programmes with support of therapists. Support pupils in specialist areas, e.g., swimming at a local leisure centre Support pupils learning during the lunch and play time Work with the ABA/VB Supervisor to establish an appropriate learning environment. Provide detailed and regular feedback to ABA /VB Supervisor on pupils’ achievement. Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with the school Positive Behaviour Policy and guidelines regarding physical intervention. ABA Teaching Assistant must haves: Take initiative and actively contribute to the smooth running of the school Be punctual and appropriate dress attire Have a positive and can-do attitude Assist in liaison with parents, therapists and other staff. Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required. Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise.
