What You’ll Be Doing
As a Commissioning Officer, you will:
Work closely with care providers to improve and develop homecare, reablement, and telecare services.
Help create and shape a new community-based support model for older people.
Manage and support a team of commissioning staff to deliver strategic priorities.
Monitor contracts, ensuring services meet high standards and provide value for money.
Identify and manage risks to ensure the delivery of quality care.
Work alongside NHS and social care partners to shape service improvements.
Support service users and their families by ensuring they have access to the right care and support.
Oversee complaints and enquiries.

There is an opportunity to work alongside the current post holder for a through transition and handover.
You will also work closely with key partners within Trafford, particularly leading on strategic initiatives relevant to the integration of health and social care in Greater Manchester, working closely with partners across the Northwest. This will include managing resources (staff and budgets) as well as partnership contributions.
You must be able to demonstrate experience in managing and developing services, alongside strong leadership abilities and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
About the Role
This role will be key in leading and delivering our commissioning aspirations for or Trafford residents who require support to live in their own homes by:
working collaboratively with colleagues across all departments and with system partners leading the vision, transformation, and strategic direction.
providing commissioning leadership and developing commissioning strategies.
managing and matrix working within the commissioning team including across the life-course elements and across strategic and operational functions to ensure the provision of a comprehensive service offer across the Borough which meets statuary responsibilities as laid out in health and social care legislation.
Commissioning design services that meet local needs, are fair and accessible to all who need them and deliver good quality care and value for money. We are always reviewing what we do, driving continuous service improvement through consistent contract, quality and performance management.
There will be a focus on management of the market along with identifying and developing new models of support, quality assurance, management of the vacancies that exist in schemes together with improving our community offer for our residents; ensuring that our local providers provide a comprehensive high-quality person-centred support.
You will support our Adult Social Care colleagues in respect of commissioning appropriate provision and support, positively challenging decisions where necessary to prevent pathway 1 discharge delays and meet needs.
You will oversee the commissioning process, service reviews and ensure value for money and service improvement.
You will support your commissioning managers to achieve continuous service improvement through consistent contract, quality and performance management of Homecare, Reablement and Telecare providers.

Additional Information
The post is a permanent opportunity, subject to references and completion of a satisfactory probationary period.
Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours on occasions. The office is open from 7.00 a.m. until 7:00pm but we operate an agile working policy
On occasion the role may require the post holder to attend provider services outside of core hours.
There will be an expectation to attend the office Trafford Town Hall a minimum 2 days a week but may vary due to in person commitments.
