Your role with us We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor. Working within this setting will require resilience as it can be a challenging role. You will play a key role in the recovery and enablement of people receiving care and treatment within our inpatient services through the use of meaningful activity, occupations, creative/ vocational roles and routines. The role will sit within a therapeutic pathway, led by Occupational Therapy, consisting of a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to enhancing life skills, functional ability and a sense of hope and enrichment. You will develop and deliver occupational and vocational sessions along with co-ordinating and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. Your profile You should have: Evidence of technical and creative skills within one or more of the following: Craftsmanship, Horticulture, delivering dementia specific interventions. Demonstrate behaviour that meets the RCOT professional standards. Effective and demonstrated use in IT skills. Effective record keeping. Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance and demonstrate resilience. Proactive and use of one’s own initiative. Demonstrate understanding of legal frameworks (Safeguarding and Mental Capacity). Demonstrate creative thinking in the face of challenge. Ability to maintain safety and professional boundaries in relation to physical, procedural and relational security. Work under supervision and with guidance. Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships within multi-disciplinary teams and outside agencies. Ability to engage in statutory and mandatory training. Able and willing to manage verbal and physical aggression as well as behaviours that challenge in accordance with local policy.
