We are recruiting for an Accountant based in our Aberdeen HQ to support the Financial Controller and CFO in managing the provision of the above, by ensuring appropriate systems are in place to deal with transactional processing and assurance, and to provide information and guidance to relevant users, supporting overall goals of the organisation.
Essential Experience, Qualifications and Competencies
* Qualified CA, ACCA or CIMA accountant
* Proven and demonstrable experience in Finance department
* Proven and demonstrable experience of managing a team effectively
* Tax analysis and reporting
* High level of customer regard and focus (internal and external)
* Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills; proven ability to manage staff
* High level of competence with financial and ERP Systems
* Good computer skills – particularly Excel and other MS Office products
* Team player, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and proven problem solver
* Conscientious, reliable, hard working, professional and motivated – to ensure job gets done
* Adoption of “no surprises rule” and must be capable of delivering against agreed objectives
Desirable Experience, Qualifications and Competencies
* International exposure, particularly Netherlands, Germany and Azerbaijan
* Experience in Finance / Accounts gained within an Oil & Gas environment
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Preparing timely and accurate financial statements and reports including management accounts, department accounts, and channel analysis
* Completing the month end close process for nominated companies before final review by the Financial Controller and Finance Director
* Overseeing the Treasury function, including all banking matters, cash flow forecasting and analysis
* Ensuring the company is tax and payroll compliant in all geographical areas, providing tax advice where necessary
* Overseeing reports and returns to regulatory authorities ensuring accuracy and timeliness
* Assisting the Financial Controller in completing the annual Group audit and other audits where necessary
* Ensuring financial ethics and compliance procedures and processes are in place and complied with
* Supporting goals of profit maximization and reduction in funding requirements and other commercial risk
* Working with the IT function to ensure identified efficiency opportunities are realised
* Raising the profile of the Finance department within the organisation
* Getting involved in ongoing as well as ad-hoc projects such as Syspro 8 upgrade project, Network Business Partner profitability analysis, Fixed asset register systemization, Rebate agreements, Bad debt provisioning, Enhancement of accounting practices, Risk reduction incl. currency, interest rates
* Managing the day-to-day operations of the Management accounts and Treasury functions and assigned personnel
* Promoting and encouraging a team working environment and a culture of continuous improvement
* Motivating and encouraging each team member to achieve their objectives and carry out their duties to best practice standards
* Ensuring that the Department and Personal objectives are aligned and met within the agreed timescales and deadlines
* Understanding and achieving personal objectives set by line manager / Department head
* Adhering to procedures as laid down by the Safety Management System, Quality Management System, and Human Resource Management System
* Putting forward suggestions for improvements
* Attending formal Team Briefings when requested
* Being a team member and actively promoting communication and information sharing
