We are seeking a highly skilled Piping and Welding Construction Supervisor to join the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear project team. The selected candidate will play a critical role in supervising and inspecting piping and welding construction activities for the NSSS (Nuclear Steam Supply System) scope, ensuring all work complies with project standards, safety protocols, and technical requirements.
Responsibilities
1. Supervision and Coordination:
o Oversee daily activities related to piping and welding work for NSSS components.
o Ensure proper execution of works in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, and approved procedures.
o Coordinate with contractors, site teams, and other stakeholders to maintain alignment with project objectives and timelines.
2. Quality Assurance and Inspection:
o Conduct routine inspections of piping and welding works to ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards and project requirements.
o Verify welding qualifications and inspect welds (visual checks, dimensions, etc.).
o Ensure correct material usage (piping, fittings, welding consumables) and adherence to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
3. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
o Promote and enforce strict adherence to HSE policies and procedures on-site.
o Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site walkdowns to identify potential risks.
o Report safety concerns and support the implementation of corrective measures.
4. Technical Reporting and Documentation:
o Prepare and submit progress reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and inspection reports to the construction management team.
o Maintain accurate records of work performed, including welding logs and inspection checklists.
o Track and document any technical issues or deviations and liaise with engineering teams for resolution.
o Act as the primary point of contact between contractors and the client for piping and welding issues.
o Collaborate with other disciplines to resolve interfacing challenges.
o Provide feedback to improve work procedures, techniques, and overall efficiency.
o Identify training needs for contractors or team members to ensure skills match project demands.
Experience and Expertise:
* At least 5 years of experience in piping and welding supervision in construction projects, with a focus on HSE compliance.
* Prior experience on nuclear or large-scale infrastructure projects, especially with NSSS systems, is highly preferred.
* Knowledge of international piping and welding standards (ASME, ISO).
Education and Certifications:
* Technician or equivalent technical qualification in a relevant field.
* Welding certifications: IWT (International Welding Technologist) or IWS (International Welding Specialist) preferred.
* HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are an advantage.
* Previous experience on a NPP field and in particular EPR fields.
Language Skills:
* Fluent English (C1-C2) – professional proficiency required.
