Job Introduction
The Governors are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring, energetic, and resilient person for the role of Deputy Headteacher and SENCO at St John’s CofE Primary School.
St John’s primary school is a medium-sized primary school which is a warm, friendly, and inclusive school where all are welcome (SIAMS 2024). We are situated in the centre of Basingstoke in lovely grounds.
We are looking for someone who is:
1. Prepared to support and uphold our school’s values which are rooted in the Christian faith.
2. Able to foster positive relationships with all members of the school community and outside agencies.
3. An ambitious and highly motivated professional who is able to contribute to the overall leadership of the school, having had experience in middle leadership roles.
4. An excellent practitioner with high expectations of pupil achievement & behaviour.
5. Able to lead and model excellent leadership and teaching skills inside and outside the classroom.
6. A team player who is proactive and has good interpersonal skills.
7. Positive and has a good sense of humour.
8. Able to think ‘solutions not problems’.
9. Able to use their secure understanding of the importance of robust assessment and impact to secure good outcomes for all children.
10. A current SENCO, working towards the SENCO accreditation or is willing to do so in the near future.

The role offers the opportunity for someone to develop their leadership skills, contributing to our inclusive community and playing a vital role in shaping our strategic direction. The role is non-class based but with some PPA or occasional cover.
