The role will have responsibility in ensuring that patients and users are involved in their care. You should know about the projects relating to Outpatients service.
Be visible and accessible to patients and staff alike. Providing visible evidence that their feedback is used to maintain standards or implement improvements that have an effect on their care.
Be an effective leader and role model, providing regular direct clinical care, in addition to ensuring effective use of non-clinical time to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance, facilitating the modernisation of patient services.
The Outpatient Sister/Charge Nurse will commit to the standards within the NUH Professional Practice model and embed within practice.
The post holder will be based at Nottingham University Hospitals covering QMC Campus Clinic 2 & Leengate Building, City Campus Main Outpatients and may be asked to support the Treatment Centre Outpatient gateways. This role requires the post holder to work across NUH campuses.
Be accountable for the management of Outpatient service, patient care, maintain safe staffing levels and budgets, whilst ensuring that standards and the quality of care including the environment in which they are delivered, are maintained and improved.
To maintain a visible presence and be accessible in the clinical area to the clinical team, patients and service users, be available to visitors; enabling team members to ask questions.
Ensure all staff in the defined clinical area are competent in the use of equipment and have access to appropriate training.
Lead by being visible and central to the multi-professional team, patients and relatives.
Seek and actively participate in opportunities to develop the ward/service in collaboration with Clinical Lead/Matron.
Ensure safe staffing levels and escalate any concerns to the Matron.
