Responsibilities
1. Provide day-to-day engineering support and expertise in production for released products.
2. Evaluate new and existing production lines to identify improvements to manufacturing processes, analytical requirements, and equipment; advise appropriate engineering personnel on manufacturability, process robustness, and equipment requirements.
3. Ensure the smooth transition of new products into manufacturing (NPI).
4. Co-ordinate the activities of personnel involved in engineering investigations and new product pilot runs.
5. Conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of process or analytical procedure development to determine process control and identify improvements; evaluate findings and coordinate with appropriate personnel to ensure adherence to specifications and execute improvements.
6. Maintain active and continuous contact (not restricted to formal meetings) with Engineering and Production.
Your Team
The ME Team is a relatively small group of 13 individuals (8 Norwich / 5 Berlin) with a blend of knowledge and skills, encompassed through a range of ages and nationalities.
Being part of the wider European team, we meet weekly to track and discuss issues on other sites to see ways in which we can help each other leverage our skill sets more effectively.
Engaging in fun activities including most recently the Fortive Innovations Day competition to showcase a bench test automation solution the ME apprentices are working on. We got through to the final competing against 47 other Fortive competitors.
As a team, we built a Soap Box in the design of a handheld multimeter and entered the Sheringham Soap Box race. Great fun.
Experience
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree - Science in Engineering / HND/ Electrical/Electronic Engineering
2. Minimum of 3 years experience in production engineering.
3. Expert knowledge of electronic engineering principles, practices, and techniques commonly employed in the design and production of electronic products.
4. An in-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
5. Understanding Kaizen practices is preferred.
6. Excellent engineering & root cause analysis problem-solving skills.
Personal Skills
1. Ability to communicate engineering concepts to non-engineers.
2. Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
3. Evidence of originality / independent judgment / self-motivation / drive.
