Are you a seasoned finance professional looking for a leadership role where you can drive financial governance, risk management, and compliance? My client is seeking a Financial Controller to take ownership of financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and integrity while supporting strategic decision-making.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in shaping the organisation s financial future. Working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership, you will oversee financial controls, audits, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring full compliance with UK GAAP & IFRS.
You will also lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities of the Financial Controller :
* Lead financial reporting, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP & IFRS.
* Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, producing accurate financial statements.
* Implement and maintain strong financial controls and policies.
* Oversee audits, working with external auditors to ensure compliance.
* Develop and manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
* Monitor financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
* Ensure full compliance with tax, VAT, and regulatory requirements.
* Drive process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals.
What We re Looking For:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience.
* Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Senior Finance Manager role.
* Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
* Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and variance analysis.
* Leadership and people management skills, with experience leading finance teams.
* Retail industry experience (preferred).
* Strong understanding of tax, VAT, and regulatory compliance.
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
