What you can add:
* Provide a supportive role to all members of the theatre team in the delivery of patient care
* Prepare the theatre for the operating list
* Complete forms and electronic records as appropriate to each case, ensuring that these are accurate, legible and complete.
* Assist with gowning and gloving, opening of packs/instruments/sundries and pour lotions
* Assist in the safe transfer and positioning of patients between the anaesthetic room/theatre/recovery
* Perform the duties of a circulating assistant.
* Clear and clean theatre and equipment between cases
* Maintain stock levels in theatres and carry out stores management
* Maintain stocks of linen/theatre clothing
* Perform some domestic/housekeeping duties
* Contribute to the implementation of competencies, policies and procedures of the unit
* Following orientation & training act as supervisor to learner support workers and as support to other inexperienced theatre staff
* Participate in the provision of a 24-hour emergency service for trauma
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.
What you'll need:
Experience:
* Minimum of 6 months Acute HCSW UK (Private, NHS or Armed Forces) hospital/hospice experience within the last 2 years.
* Currently studying General/Adult Nursing (Student Nurse) and completed a minimum of 12 weeks clinical placements.
Qualifications:
* Good level of Maths and English.
* NVQ in either Operating Department Support or General Healthcare or willing to work towards (NB the Trust has a training programme for HCAs/TSWs to achieve this)
*Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.

Person Specification
Experience
* Minimum of 6 months Acute HCSW UK (Private, NHS or Armed Forces) hospital/hospice experience within the last 2 years.
* Hospital based experience.
* Care of the elderly.
Qualifications
* Student Nurse with at least 12 weeks clinical placements.
* Care Certificate from an NHS Organisation.
* QCF Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Support Services issued after 2011.
* QCF Level 2 OR above Diploma in Health & Social Care or Clinical Healthcare Support issued after 2011.
* QCF Level 3 OR above Diploma in Healthcare Support or Maternity & Paediatric Support issued after 2011 (For Paediatric & Maternity roles only).
* Degree/Diploma in Nursing and currently do not have an NMC Registration.
* NVQ 2.
