Following an 18-month pilot we are pleased to launch the new Children’s Disability Consultant reviewing teams. Our team supports children and young people who are defined as Children in need due to their disability needs only.
We have 4 Children’s Disability teams across the county, and they provide specialist services for children and young people with complex disabilities.
You'll be expected to facilitate in creating alternative ways of working with children with disabilities across the county, leading innovative ways of working across all children’s services to ensure children with disabilities in Staffordshire get the right support at the right time.
The post is Fixed Term for 12 months and based in the West of the County.
Main Responsibilities
You will:
* Hold a significant caseload of Children in need, young people where short breaks are being provided, with the support and oversight of a qualified social worker.
* Conduct Child in need visits and chair reviews.
* Complete direct work with children with disabilities and families.
* Link families with community-based activities and short breaks at the most appropriate level.
* Take part in reflective group supervision sessions in the district teams to help share knowledge and keep up to date with district operational practices and challenges.
The Ideal Candidate
You will:
* Be confident in decision making and have experience and knowledge in working with children with disabilities and their families.
* Have sound organisational skills, able to manage and prioritise competing demands.
* Have the ability to engage and communicate with children with disabilities.
* Be committed to ensuring the children on their caseload receive the best quality service.
* Be expected to be a team player.
