If so, GSL Education are currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisor (CS) to join a vibrant secondary school in Southampton, Hampshire. This role is ideal for aspiring teachers or experienced support staff looking to take the next step in their education career. As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will provide classroom supervision during staff absences and help maintain a productive learning environment. Your Responsibilities as a Cover Supervisor: Deliver pre-set work to classes across a range of subjects and year groups. Manage student behaviour and encourage positive classroom engagement. Ensure pupils remain focused, on task, and follow school expectations. Provide support and guidance to students during independent tasks. Supervise break and lunch duties when required. Communicate effectively with teaching staff regarding student progress and incidents. Promote a respectful, inclusive, and safe learning environment. Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and attendance policies. Maintain accurate records of lessons covered and student behaviour. Encourage student independence and resilience in learning. What we need from a Cover Supervisor: Previous experience working with young people in a school or similar setting as Cover Supervisor. CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare. A degree in Education, Psychology, SEN, Counselling or similar field. Experience working with children with SEND is a bonus. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Confident and calm under pressure. A passion for supporting students in their academic development. Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures. A valid enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
