Job summary We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our trainees in the provision of daytime anaesthesia in a supervised capacity. Training and supervision will be provided in a manner similar to our existing trainees and will take into account the candidate's educational requirements. In addition, the successful candidate would partake in the senior anaesthetic trainee or obstetric trainee on-call rota, alongside ST3 and CT-level anaesthetic trainees. This opportunity would suit a trainee who has completed two years of Core Training in Anaesthesia and has passed the Primary FRCA exam. The post is supported by the division of anaesthesia and theatres and requires the applicant to have completed two years of Anaesthesia training, including the Initial Assessment of Competence in Obstetric Anaesthesia (IACOA), in a recognised training post. Main duties of the job Partake in the day-to-day running of operating lists in all specialties, under both direct and indirect supervision. Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of anaesthesia for on-call and elective daytime surgery. To share with colleagues, responsibility for the Obstetric and Senior Anaesthetic Trainee on-call rota. To cover the Critical Care Unit to intermediate training standards. To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME). To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit. To attend Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust meetings as appropriate. Fulfil duties of weekly timetable including any out-of- hours responsibilities.
