Applications are warmly invited for a substantive consultant to replace a colleague at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Oral and Maxillofacial Department. You will join our established, but dynamic, 5 consultant team primarily in Northampton, treating patients across hospital sites in our sister unit in Kettering.
As part of the Maxillofacial Team, you will be supported in all aspects of the role, but you will also support, coach, and impart your knowledge and experience to your team.
Main Duties of the Job
Subspecialty interest: TMJ - fellowship/experience required. Salivary (Minimally invasive), Vascular anomalies, Trauma.
Timetable: The timetable will involve routine clinics and theatre. There is a 1:5 on-call commitment.
Teaching: The department hosts DCT trainees from the East Midlands Deanery and has 3 Oxford/East of England Specialty Trainees working within the team.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
* There is an on-call commitment of 1:5 (equivalent to 2 PAs) – planning to rise to 1:6 in future.
* 10PA contract is flexible but will involve some joint hospital clinical activity.
* To fully support the delivery and development of the Maxillofacial Service.
* To share responsibility for the service with the other Consultants, Head and neck surgeon supported by the general maxillofacial surgeons.
* To participate with the other Consultant Surgeons in the management of the Department of Maxillofacial.
* To demonstrate a firm commitment to clinical governance including participation in effective clinical audit and continuing medical education.
* To contribute to management within the Trust through the Directorate.
* To participate in all teaching programmes for medical staff, medical students and other hospital employees as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Primary medical qualification/MRCS or equivalent qualifications.
* Current CCT or equivalent, or within 6 months of CCT.
* GDC and GMC registrant.
Experience
* Experience and specific training in Surgery of TMJ disease.
* Experience in Surgery/Minimally Invasive surgery of Salivary disease or Vascular anomaly or Trauma interest.
Education & Audit
* Experience of audit in Head and neck Cancer Surgery.
* Teaching junior staff.
* Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals within the last 5 years.
