Job Purpose
To lead, manage, and oversee the operations of the employability training centre, ensuring the effective delivery of training, development, and employment services to participants. The Centre Manager will be responsible for achieving performance targets, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring compliance with funding and contractual obligations. Additionally, they will play a critical role in fostering a positive environment for staff, participants, and stakeholders while driving continuous improvement and business growth.
Key Responsibilities and Key Performance Indicators
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
1. Oversee day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring seamless delivery of employability training and support services.
2. Manage resources effectively, including staffing, facilities, and equipment, to ensure the centre operates efficiently.
3. Monitor centre performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective action to address shortfalls.
4. Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and funding requirements.
5. Develop and implement schedules for training sessions, workshops, and other centre activities.
Team Leadership and Development
1. Lead, manage, and support a team of staff, including trainers, employability coaches, and administrators.
2. Conduct regular team meetings, one-to-one observations, and performance appraisals.
3. Identify and address staff training and development needs, promoting continuous professional development (CPD).
4. Motivate the team to meet performance targets and maintain high-quality standards.
Participants Support and Outcomes
1. Ensure all participants receive high-quality training, coaching, and support tailored to their individual needs.
2. Monitor participants' progress and outcomes, taking proactive steps to address barriers to employment or training.
3. Work collaboratively with staff to implement innovative methods to engage and retain participants.
4. Promote a positive and inclusive environment that supports participants' wellbeing and achievement.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
1. Ensure all activities meet the required standards, including those set by Ofsted, funding bodies, and other regulatory authorities.
2. Conduct regular quality assurance activities, including lesson observations, audits, and participants' feedback reviews.
3. Implement and maintain policies and procedures for safeguarding, equality, and health and safety.
4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support audit and compliance requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement and Business Development
1. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local employers, referral agencies, and community organisations.
2. Represent the centre at external meetings, events, and networking opportunities to promote the organisation’s services.
3. Identify opportunities for business growth and contribute to the development of new contracts, partnerships, and funding streams.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
1. Prepare and present reports on centre performance to senior management.
2. Analyse data to identify trends and inform decision-making and strategy development.
3. Develop and implement improvement plans to enhance performance, participants' outcomes, and service quality.
4. Stay informed of changes in the employability and training sector and adapt the centre’s approach accordingly.

2. Adherence to quality standards, including achieving Ofsted Grade 2 or higher.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Qualifications and Specific Training
Essential
1. GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English.
2. Management qualification or significant management experience.
3. Safeguarding training or willingness to undertake.
Desirable
1. Level 4 qualification in leadership/management.
2. Health and Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH).
3. Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) qualification.
Experience

1. Proven experience in managing teams within the employability, training, or similar sectors.
2. Experience in delivering against KPIs and contractual targets.
3. Strong understanding of barriers to employment and strategies to address them.

1. Experience in managing DWP contracts or other funded programmes.
2. Business development and stakeholder engagement experience.
