We are currently recruiting for qualified individuals with this skill set to support a primary school in Wigan, starting soon.
As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), your responsibilities will include planning, delivering learning activities, and leading classes during scenarios like PPA time and teacher absence. Ad-hoc rates for this role start at £13.84 - £15.38 per hour, based on experience. Long-term roles will be paid to scale, with broader responsibilities and a need for a sustained commitment. Your role as an HLTA involves monitoring pupils, assessing progress, and reporting on their achievements. Responsibilities:
1. Preparation or collaboration of lesson resources with the teacher.
2. Cover the class and deliver planned work in the teacher's absence (PPA time/teacher absence).
3. Maintain a controlled and safe environment in the classroom.
4. Collaborate with classroom teachers to organise appropriate activities.
5. Liaise with other professionals such as teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff.
6. Work closely with other LSAs and support staff.
7. Work with classes, small groups, and with children on a one-to-one basis, such as intervention or development.
8. Prepare and develop class displays.
Essential Requirements:
9. Experience working with young people.
10. Previous HLTA and class leadership experience.
11. Comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
12. Ability to engage with, and build rapport with, young people.
13. Creative, proactive, and flexible in your supporting style.
14. HLTA qualified - L3/4 upwards.
