The post holder is responsible for managing and delivering a safe, effective, and compliant estate, systems, and services for the Trust, its staff, patients, and visitors.
The role requires specialist skills, as evidenced by higher-level operational estate knowledge and professional qualifications. Understanding clinical requirements is necessary to successfully negotiate some of the Estate's service delivery needs against modern practice and legislation and align with clinical services.
The post holder manages the Estates, Business Support, and Energy Manager teams. The role covers all sites Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust operates. The post holder will provide leadership, strategic vision, and management of the Estates team, represent the RUH, Estates, and Facilities in external forums and networks, and lead development projects of strategic importance to both the RUH and Estates and Facilities.

Main duties of the job
The Associate Director of Estates is responsible for managing and delivering a safe, effective, and compliant estate for the Trust, its staff, patients, and visitors. This role requires specialist skills in operational estates knowledge and professional qualifications. The post holder manages the Estates team, Business Support Team, and the Energy Manager, covering all sites operated by the Trust. They provide leadership, strategic vision, and management of the Estates team, representing the RUH in external forums and networks. Key responsibilities include ensuring statutory and mandatory obligations are met, effective performance and compliance of building services, and coordination with other Estates and Facilities Heads of Department. The role also involves financial management, risk identification and mitigation, and developing a robust and agile estates team. Additionally, the Associate Director is accountable for estates governance, maintenance, health and safety, and supporting wider Trust teams in business cases and capital projects.
