Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head of Finance – Customer & Transformation, this role involves analysing and interpreting management information, month-end preparation, and decision support to influence key commercial decisions. This role is an integral part of the Commercial Finance team, business partnering the Marketing and Customer teams supported by an Analyst.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dedicated Business Partner to the Marketing Director and Customer Director with cross-functional involvement with all Commercial functions across both our Retail and Autocentre divisions, e.g., Trading, Digital, and Garages to deliver the optimal plan.
2. Financial ownership of advertising and promotional spend, supporting the establishment of a measurement framework to appraise the effectiveness of investment in this area.
3. Quarterly forecasting and budgeting, highlighting opportunities and risks to the Marketing, Customer, and Finance Directors to ensure strategy aligns with overall business and individual divisional objectives.
4. Weekly and monthly divisional reporting of A&P spend, including the preparation of month-end results and articulation of in-month spend performance vs expectation.
5. Evaluate trials analysis e.g., PPC trials, CRM incentives, affiliate tests.
6. Evaluate marketing campaign performance and compile post-campaign performance reviews.
7. Influence the Marketing teams to capitalize on trading opportunities and minimize potential threats by identifying trends and understanding the impact of trading and commercial decisions on longer-term projections.
8. Provide commercial support on key strategic projects such as loyalty, cross-shop, and customer experience initiatives.
9. Effective line management of a junior analyst including prioritization of day-to-day activities, setting objectives that align with finance team and overall business objectives, and ongoing development support.
10. Ad hoc analysis and support for the Head of Finance – Customer & Transformation as required.
Key Skills/Experience
1. Professional Qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
2. A proven track record of high performance in a commercial finance business partnering role.
3. Excellent commercial acumen – ability to understand business objectives and focus activity to yield the greatest commercial benefit.
4. Dynamic and outcome-driven individual with high levels of energy, flexibility, and commitment.
5. An effective communicator with excellent presentation skills and gravitas; articulate and persuasive; able to build strong relationships through collaborative working and influence across the business at all levels.
6. Understanding of SAP and ability to execute month-end processes and reporting.
7. Experience of line management, whether direct or indirect, on specific task delivery.
8. An ability to thrive in a fast-paced and pressurized environment.
9. Experience of cross-functional and matrix-structured working environments.
