Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: Basic salary £35,200 to £36,200 which includes payment for sleep in shifts.
Elm Residential Care is a new yet ambitious Residential Care Provider who have quickly established themselves a provider of excellent care to young people. Having established our first home in the Preston area, we are opening a second home in the same area which will adopt the company ethos of creating a supportive, family atmosphere with a therapeutic approach to support young people the best way we can. We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational Residential Team Leaders to join our team working at one of our residential children’s homes in the Bamber Bridge and Penwortham areas of Preston.
We require individuals who want to help guide the young people in our care through their journey with Elm. Our homes accommodate young people aged 8 – 17 years of age. Our staff provide all young persons with the emotional and social support they require delivered in a safe, secure, positive and homely atmosphere and environment. We are committed to improving the lives of all young people and positively shaping their future’s.
It is essential that you hold a full UK driving License.

It is a requirement that you hold your Diploma Level 4 in Working with Children & Young People. Job Description
· To assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the leadership and management of the day to day operations of the Home so that the lives of all of the young residents are progressively improved.
· To assist in the continuous improvement and development of the quality, image and reputation of the Home.
· To maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of children and young people within the care of Elm Residential. Working from the guidelines from the 1989 Children’s Act, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters and any other relevant legislation.
· To provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel secure and free from harm.
· To provide direction to residential support workers on each shift and to ensure their work is completed to a high standard.
· To provide support and guidance for residential support workers on each shift.
· Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive support as well as establishing and maintaining positive relationships with family, friends and any other external body, as requested by the Registered Manager
· Helping young people mange emotions and behaviours by positively introducing fair boundaries and rewarding acceptable behaviours.
· Ensuring that each young person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs and to offer advice, guidance and assistance where appropriate as well as providing emotional support at times of difficulty or stress.
· Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home etc).
· Providing support for young people in their education and extracurricular activities, this may include supporting them in the classroom if necessary.
· Keeping accurate records and providing written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the Home Manager / Team Leaders.

General Responsibilities
· Attending young people’s meetings and contributing to them
· Driving company vehicles (current driving license holders subject to procedures)
· Receiving training appropriate to the role and maintaining an up-to-date training profile
· Responsibility for the accurate maintenance of financial records appropriate to the duties of the post
· Responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of the organisational Health and Safety policies
Other Essential Conditions
· This post requires the holder to do varying shifts, which include early morning and late evening work, sleep-in duties. The post holder also is required to work weekends as part of a rota and Bank Holidays when required. Sleeping-in duties are also required for which an additional payment is made.
· On occasions you may be requested to change your rota at a given notice as per your contract, to ensure the contingencies of the service are covered. This may also include covering an additional sleep-in duty as an emergency measure.
· In accordance with the guidelines on Health and Safety, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and reporting any concerns to the Registered Manager.
· This post requires the holder to have a clear Criminal Records Bureau check at all times. Changes to personal circumstances which may effect this must be notified to your line manager immediately.
