HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER REQUIRED ON PERMANENT BASIS IN TELFORD
The Health and Safety Manager will oversee the creation and execution of health, safety, and environmental practices across the manufacturing site. This position focuses on ensuring compliance with UK health and safety regulations, minimizing workplace risks, and promoting a strong culture of safety and wellbeing within the organization.
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 + Package DOE
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop, implement, and regularly review site health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with current UK legislation and best practices.
2. Conduct routine evaluations and updates to safety protocols to maintain compliance with UK regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and COSHH standards.
3. Lead regular risk assessments across the manufacturing site to identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures.
4. Ensure all machinery, equipment, and processes adhere to health and safety standards and are thoroughly risk-assessed.
5. Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
6. Maintain detailed records and prepare reports for internal use and submission to relevant authorities, including HSE and RIDDOR compliance.
7. Design and deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs for all employees, including induction sessions, equipment safety training, and specialized courses as needed.
8. Foster a culture of continuous safety improvement through toolbox talks, refresher courses, and hands-on demonstrations.
9. Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
10. Coordinate with external regulatory bodies, such as the HSE, for audits and inspections, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and up to date.
11. Organize and lead regular emergency drills to ensure employees are well-prepared for potential incidents.
12. Partner with production and operational teams to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
13. Serve as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters, providing guidance to managers and employees on procedures and compliance.
14. Monitor and report on health and safety performance, utilizing KPIs to drive ongoing improvements.
15. Lead health and safety committee meetings, collaborating with stakeholders to identify opportunities for enhancement and implement effective solutions.
16. Operate primarily in a manufacturing environment, requiring frequent shop-floor presence.
17. The role involves exposure to manufacturing processes, machinery, and chemicals.
18. Occasional travel between sites may be required.
REQUIRED
1. NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
2. Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) preferred.
