One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety Australia (AU WHS) is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and wellbeing. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative person to serve as our Program Manager for AU WHS to build and execute programs that create a safe workplace and build a world-class safety culture in the midst of Amazon’s growth. In this role, you will dive deep into Operations processes; identify risks through data and first-hand experience; build and execute programs, and improve processes to eliminate risks; and influence Operations to sustain a culture of safety. This role will focus on coordinating and leading large, strategic projects / programs within Amazon Business Units (BUs) and will be strongly focused on injury and accident prevention as well as improvements across health, safety and wellness.
The Senior WHS Program Manager will work on the implementation of a structured occupational health management and psychosocial risk management program across our AU Operations, including Fulfilment Centres, ATS and AMZL. They will lead, co-ordinate and promote all relevant processes. This role will work closely with our Operations and PXT Teams and the WHS Team in Australia. They will also have direct leadership responsibility for the health and wellbeing teams.
The role will report into the Senior WHS Manager AU, and work collaboratively with other partners across all Amazon BUs and regional geographies to provide innovative solutions across our business. This role is based in either Sydney or Melbourne corporate offices.
The ideal candidate has an obsession for customers and a strong interest in building innovative solutions; must have proven analytical capabilities (including ability to deep dive, identify root causes and permanently eliminate hazards and risks); and can thrive in a fast-paced environment with exceptional communication and project management skills. The ideal candidate must have outstanding judgment, compassion, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in many areas across the company.
Key job responsibilities
Health & Wellbeing program
• Planning, coordinating and implementation of health and injury prevention measures and campaigns considering Amazon standards and local requirements.
• Implementation and coordination of an occupational health management/ early intervention process for work related injuries.
• Analysis of injury data / metrics and development of appropriate health measures to reduce the injuries.
• Support HR and Safety in organizing effective systems for strategic delivery of occupational health care and injury management.
• Uncover areas of opportunity and present business recommendations that will contribute to the shaping of our health and injury management program.
• Cooperation with external partners and organizations.
• Improvement plans for health and wellbeing, injury prevention, psychological risks, and injury management
• Direct coordination and supervision of occupational health nurses,
• Management of the network panel of Doctors
• Responsible for the management of audiometric testing for sites requiring testing to be conducted
• Participate in incident management teams as required based on emergency medical and health topics.
Psychosocial Risk program
• Developing strategic plans and executing through working with Operations, PXT and WHS teams
• Co-developing the strategy and framework through to implementation for managing psychosocial risk across the organisation
• Helping the business to understand and use work design as a control for managing psychosocial risk
• Initiate and undertake strategic analysis, research and case studies, utilising data-driven insights to enhance the program and improve outcomes.
• Engage and consult with managers and business unit stakeholders to drive improvements in mental health and psychosocial safety performance and outcomes
• Implement the psychosocial risk assessment methodology and approach
• Providing psychological expertise to the management of acute and complex psychological events
• Assist in evolving the capability framework and developing learning content for mental health in the workplace
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- 5+ years of team management experience
- 5+ years of cross functional project delivery experience
