The base for clinical work will be within the Swindon community CAMHS team. Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAPs) are new roles developed in the NHS to provide greater access to psychologically informed mental health services. Within a specialism, CAPs have clinical expertise and professional knowledge across a range of procedures. You will independently manage your own caseload, taking day-to-day responsibility for proactive care and decision-making. Within your area of expertise, you will conduct complex psychological assessments, contribute to tailored clinical formulations, and provide evidence-based, psychologically informed interventions. For particularly complex decisions or clinical risk issues you will seek consultation from their supervisor. CAPs will also serve as a psychological resource within the team, offering training and contributing to research and evaluation activities, depending on their level of experience and competence, in collaboration with the Professional Lead for Psychology and the Service Manager(s).
