Job Description Consultant Vascular & Interventional Radiologist THE POST The post is for a full-time NHS Consultant Radiologist specialising in interventional and diagnostic radiology (primarily vascular and some non-vascular). This is an additional post to meet the needs of an expanding service in interventional radiology and will include on-call responsibilities on a 1 in 7 rota. The successful applicant will collaborate with existing colleagues to enhance the comprehensive vascular interventional radiology service, support its growth, and provide a vascular interventional on-call service. The role is part of a wider team of 46 consultant radiologists. The post includes responsibility for vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures, CT, MRI, plain film reporting, ultrasound, radiology clinics, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical-radiological meetings. THE SPECIALTY The department provides sub-specialty and general radiological services across the Trust. Sub-specialties are grouped into sections, offering flexibility and innovation in working practices. Support and mentoring will be offered within the team as needed. JOB PLAN & TIMETABLE The job plan reflects 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), with a split between Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and Supporting Professional Activity (SPA), in line with Trust policy. Flexibility for part-time roles will be considered. On-call commitments involve a 1:7 rota, supported by junior staff. DUTIES The post holder will: Be an effective member of the radiology team at all sites.' Hold GMC Specialist Registration Held an NHS Interventional Radiology position for 1-2 years minimum Take responsibility for patient care. Participate in teaching, research, audit, and continuing professional development. Contribute to the delivery of a nationally recognised interventional service. Work with clinical colleagues to enhance performance and improve clinical outcomes. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT Office accommodation and administrative support will be provided, including a PC with email and internet access. PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS The Radiology Directorate Clinical Lead is responsible for all activity and medical personnel in the specialty, reporting to the Divisional Clinical Director. All consultants are expected to adhere to guidelines laid out by the General Medical Council's "Maintaining Good Medical Practice." ETHICS OF CLINICAL PRACTICE COMMITTEE (ECPC) The committee advises on ethical principles underlying decisions in healthcare and clinical practice.
