NUPAS is expanding. Are you looking for the next step in your nursing career? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic nurse or midwife. You will be based at our NUPAS Manchester clinic with some hybrid working from home, completing telephone consultations.
We are looking for nurses who can deliver safe and effective care of patients wanting to access consultation for unplanned pregnancy, surgical and medical abortions, contraception, and sexual health services for women. You will need to be able to fulfil an integral role within our multidisciplinary team delivering a confidential abortion service. You will need to be motivated, enthusiastic, caring, and empathetic. Pro-choice is a must.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To support with the care delivery throughout all clinical services at NUPAS as required.
2. To deliver safe and effective care of patients from admission to discharge in accordance with local and national guidelines, NUPAS policy, and independent regulatory expectations.
3. To uphold NUPAS core values and behaviours at all times, promoting choice.
4. The role includes hybrid working providing telephone consultations and aftercare advice.
5. NUPAS provide abortions via medical and surgical routes and the post holder will be expected to support all areas of the care we provide.
6. The post holder will engage with learning identified through the patient safety incident response framework.

Job Responsibilities
1. To provide clear understanding, and implementation of informed choice to patients.
2. To offer excellent skills in patient assessment with a clear understanding of treatment options, and informed choice.
3. Skilled in clinical observation and assessment, enabling identification of normal baseline observations and the deteriorating patient.
4. Can interpret and undertake point of care testing including pregnancy testing either face to face or via the telephone.
5. Have the knowledge base to facilitate discussion around contraceptive options and provide/fit contraception in accordance with national guidelines and NUPAS policies.
6. To ensure safe administration of medication in line with policy.
7. To gain informed consent before the implementation of treatment and procedures.
8. Provide a good knowledge base around STI Screening and risk factor assessment.
9. To undertake record keeping in line with policy.
10. To possess the skills and knowledge to monitor observations, make the necessary safe assessments and implement care based on the patients condition.
11. To assessment, monitor and advise our patients at every stage of care to ensure high quality safe care.
12. Can engage with patients and promote patient feedback to ensure NUPAS can improve services for our patients.
13. Maintains patient safety through escalation and the reporting of incidents.
14. Engages in the learning process as and when required.
15. Engages with clinical supervision and continually update own professional development and learning to improve practice.
16. Always maintains confidentiality and data protection in line with policy.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential
* Current Nurse or Midwife NMC registration as a Registered Nurse Sub part 1 of the NMC register Registered Midwife.
* Must be pro-choice.
* Application must evidence the skills and experience to fulfil all elements of the Job Description.
Desirable
* Contraceptive Qualification or Experienced in fitting subdermal implants Letter of competence required.
* Professional Nurse or midwifery advocate.
* Clinic Independent Non-Medical or Supplementary Prescribing qualification.
