Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. At Scottish Water we look after Scotland's most precious natural resource. From source to tap, we are committed to guarding Scotlandâs reputation for refreshingly pure water and caring for our environment at the same time. As part of our ongoing commitment, we are looking for a Multifunctional Networks Maintenance Operative to join our Field Response team, working in Fort William and the surrounding area on a full-time permanent contract. What youâll do You will be carrying out maintenance activities on our Sewer and Water Network, this includes: Clearing blockages on our sewer network. Repairing bursts on our water network. Attending issues out of hours to ensure we maintain water supply to our communities. This is a very rewarding job and hard work is essential as it is a physically challenging, demanding job that includes a variety of strenuous activities, such as hand digging and high-pressure water jetting. You will be working outside, in rural areas alongside a small team to resolve issues with the water and waste-water networks. Youâll be focussed on ensuring the work is carried out safely while keeping any service disruption to a minimum. And as youâll be working as part of a team, youâll do your turn on the standby rota for out-of-hours work. What youâll bring  Basic IT skills are a must, as youâll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day. Youâll need report writing skills too â nothing fancy, but enough to get your point across clearly, quickly, and accurately. A full, clean driving licence is required, as youâll need to travel around sites in the Fort William area. A few ânice to havesâ:  It would be ideal if you have experience with HGVs and 180/360 excavators and experience using cable avoidance tools would be good. As would an understanding of health and safety principles for site working or skills in basic ground maintenance. Holding a CPCS or NRSWA qualification would be great, but itâs not a must-have. Looking out for you  While the work we do is important, we know itâs not the only thing that matters. Thatâs why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance. This role has some weekend working and standby requirements. But youâll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community. When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working. For your future, thereâs our pension (the âknow-what-youâll-get-when-you-retireâ kind), and life assurance. As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash â handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping. We've also recently moved to a 35 hour working week. The not-so-small print   This role will be a Grade 4. If youâre new to Scottish Water, youâll join us on a starting salary of £ 27,590. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £ 32,410. There is a requirement to participate on an out of hours standby rota.  Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Donât worry - weâll ask your permission before starting these checks. If youâre interested in this role â or know someone else who might be - weâll be accepting applications until Wednesday the 5th of March at midnight. A few final things worth knowing⦠ Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If youâre interested in this job, but donât tick all the boxes, apply anyway We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So donât rule yourself out  Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. Weâre very used to making adjustments, so please donât be afraid to ask.  As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, itâs important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you donât already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.  Finally (finally), candidates who havenât submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You wonât need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted. Weâre here to help. Ask us anything at SWRecruitmentScottishWater.co.uk Â
