Job Summary
The Activity Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and care home settings. This position is responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments. The Activity Coordinator will work closely with residents, families, and staff to foster a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being; aligning with the core ethos of The Oaklands.
Duties
1. Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
2. Collaborate with management team and staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of ability and care requirements.
3. Communicate effectively with residents to understand their interests and preferences, ensuring their involvement in activity planning.
4. Organise special events, outings, and themed days that encourage participation from all residents.
5. Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes regularly.
6. Provide support and assistance during activities to ensure safety and enjoyment for all participants.
7. Foster a warm and welcoming environment that encourages socialisation among residents.
8. Be computer literate and manage budgets.
9. Plan and organise theatrical performances, whether that be through dance, music, pantomime, or all.
10. Work alongside all staff, trustees, and external contractors.
11. Promote The Oaklands in a positive manner to all outside bodies.
Qualifications
1. Previous experience within the role and a care setting is highly desirable.
2. Holding a full UK driving license is highly desirable.
3. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff members.
4. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
5. Creative thinking skills to develop innovative activity ideas that resonate with our residents.
6. A compassionate approach towards caring for individuals in a care home environment.
7. Relevant qualifications in health or social care would be beneficial but are not essential.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about enhancing the lives of residents that have learning difficulties through meaningful engagement and who possess the skills necessary to create a supportive community atmosphere.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £11.44-£13.00 per hour
