The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Programme Manager to lead our AI Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of AI projects within the Trust. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership and project management skills, as well as an understanding of AI technologies and their applications in the healthcare sector.
Main duties of the job
* Lead and manage the AI Team to ensure successful project delivery, by setting clear goals and providing direction.
* Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring all milestones are met.
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including IT, clinical staff, and external partners, to ensure alignment and collaboration.
* Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and mitigating risks through proactive problem-solving and regular status reviews.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including data protection laws and healthcare guidelines.
* Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
* Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders and senior management, providing clear and concise reports and presentations.
Job responsibilities
* Using agreed project management methodology to define, document and execute projects, actively leading in all stages of the project. Creating project plans, tracking activity against project plans, assessing and managing all issues and risks, and producing regular reports to monitor project progress and be a key contributor of the progress reports for project boards/steering groups.
* To plan and manage multiple projects as delegated by the Head of Service Delivery.
* To ensure critical dependencies are fully identified during planning to ensure that other key projects are appraised. Managing multiple project phases and projects at any one time.
* To formulate and design key plans on all elements of projects for delivery on time and within budget tolerances, ensuring a smooth transition to new systems, as applicable, and to liaise with other Divisions within Trust, managing expectations for projects.
* Required to work autonomously, but can seek advice when necessary.
* Responsible for the direct line management and work allocation of AI Team members.
* Assessment of complex technical issues and risks judging the level at which escalation should be performed.
* To work closely with Business Change team to identify benefits to be realised by the implementation of new systems and upgrades and to ensure that an evaluation process is in place to ensure that identified benefits and change are realised and reported.
* Lead on the implementation of service proposals along with developing and implementing associated support models to enable effective on-going support.
* Proposes and develops policy and service changes for those projects managed, impacting across UHNM.
* Ability to work in a high pressured environment & work to deadlines, requiring high levels of concentration and able to cope with interruption.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft office: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
* Professional training delivery qualification or equivalent experience of delivering and facilitating in challenging environments.
* Portfolio of certified/accredited professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas.
* Experience and/or qualifications in the specific area Organisational.
* Evidence of higher level study at Masters Level; Alternatively working knowledge and experience at an equivalent level.
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
* At least 3 years' experience as a Project Manager.
* Experience of managing AI projects.
* Collaborative working.
* Proven planning and organising experience.
* Performance management including monitoring of delivery to timescales.
* Practical experience of implementing complex IT infrastructure projects.
* Examples of leading multi-disciplinary team projects including senior clinical staff in the NHS.
* Experience of working across boundaries to develop networks with key stakeholders.
* Ability to prioritise workload in response to service needs.
* Ability to work autonomously and be accountable for own actions.
