Step into a Rewarding Role with Purpose
David* is young, healthy, strong and physically very able. His autism and learning disabilities can lead him to become frustrated, upset or anxious. Supporting him to manage his behaviour when he is feeling anxious is a key part of the role. You will be joining an experienced team and will always be working alongside at least one other member of the MacIntyre team. The team support him to live a life that makes sense to him, accompanying him when he's enjoying getting out and about as well as supporting him in his own home.
David knows his team and enjoys their company, this has helped him make great progress in managing his anxiety and behaviour. The team take great pride in working for this specialist service.
We provide care for him 24 hours a day so you'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. This role is 37.5 hours per week, usually working long days - 16 hour shifts. The team really enjoy having 4 days off every week. How would you use all that free time? Ad hoc sleep-in shifts are also available.
We sometimes organise activities for David alongside other people that we support locally. This involves one of our team driving a 9 seater MPV. So we do need a driver with a manual licence. If you haven’t driven one before don’t worry, we won’t throw you in at the deep end without some training and it will not be a regular occurrence.
