Key Responsibilities:
- To fulfil council obligations for landfill tonnage data reporting.
- To deal with service requests from customers, while also reviewing, updating, and communicating the pricing structure and applicable rates.
- To collate information and produce data reports for performance monitoring.
- To follow existing accounting procedures for the control and reconciliation of income linked to the service area, including customer set up, issue of invoices, and regular checks to verify data integrity.
- To monitor the payment process, carrying out recovery where appropriate.
- To monitor waste streams going on and off site, chase missing loads, and ensure weighbridge tickets tally up with those of the end destinations.
- To operate the weighbridge and ensure the correct functioning of all weighbridge equipment and systems.
- To be responsible for ensuring integrity of data.
- To participate in opening and securing the building, setting and re-setting alarms, and remaining in touch with call-out personnel.
- To cooperate with managers and supervisors in complying with statutory health and safety duties.
- To work across multiple service areas.
- To carry out other standard operative duties, such as providing instructions/assistance to residents, traffic control, emptying of containers, monitoring skip usage, and carrying out cleansing duties, etc.
Requirements:
- At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent or be able to demonstrate substantial practical knowledge and experience.
- Full current driving licence.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety legislation.
- Working knowledge of computer software packages — Excel, Word, and Outlook as a minimum.
- Ability to understand and ensure compliance with specifications, contract documentation, and health and safety requirements.
- Possess customer care skills and the ability to represent the Council in relation to the posts area of responsibility.
Desirable:
- Experience in an office environment.
- Knowledge of Local Government services and operational service delivery.
- Working knowledge of payment systems.
- Experience in the waste sector of transferrable experience.
- Experience in operating payment and accountancy systems.
- Experience in a customer service environment.
