We are looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals to help keep Thanet clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and businesses.
Responsibilities:
1. Coastal Cleansing: Litter picking, emptying bins, sweeping stairs, weeding, and maintaining beaches, car parks, and promenades.
2. Independent & Team Work: Work alone or as part of a team to uphold cleanliness standards.
3. Shift Work: Adapt to shift patterns, including weekends, to meet service demands.
4. Equipment Use: Operate brooms, litter pickers, and powered cleaning tools.
5. Health & Safety: Follow safety procedures, conduct daily equipment checks, and report defects.
6. Public Engagement: Interact with the public professionally while representing the council.
7. Environmental Awareness: Follow best practices and environmental risk assessments.
8. Record Keeping: Complete time sheets, log tasks, and report any service issues.
9. Additional Duties: Support other tasks as required within the role's scope.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Ability to work independently and use initiative.
2. A smart phone for communication.
3. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
4. Basic verbal and written communication skills for record-keeping.
5. Understanding of health & safety procedures.
6. Ability to use a tablet or similar device for reporting tasks.
7. Flexibility to adapt to different working patterns and locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of the Thanet District.
2. Full UK driving licence.
3. Experience in a public service role.
4. Familiarity with waste collection vehicles.
