KEY RESULT AREAS/MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Trainee Medical Physicist Assist in the routine testing of diagnostic nuclear medicine equipment, includingSPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging systems, gamma probes, radionuclide calibrators,contamination monitors and dose-rate meters. Assist in the routine delivery of the radionuclide therapy service, includingpreparation of ward facilities, carrying out in-patient measurements, post-therapydecontamination procedures and radioactive waste management. Carry out experimental work, data analysis, report writing and results presentationfor research projects in Nuclear Medicine Physics Carry out clinical and technical audits as required by the department Liaise with the Trainee Computer Scientist and the Scientific Computing Sectionin the development and testing of software and image processing applications tosupport the clinical Nuclear Medicine service Occasional travel with the team to other sites may be required. To assist in all other areas of work of the Section not mentioned above and toundertake such other duties as might be requested by the Head of Nuclear MedicinePhysics or Deputy from time to time. KEY RESULT AREAS/MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: BSc Industrial Placement Student,Radiation Protection & Radiological Physics 3.1 To assist in routine performance testing all types of X-ray equipment, including radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, dental and mammography, working under supervision at all times.3.2 To assist in the commissioning of new diagnostic X-ray equipment across NHS and private clients of the RRPS.3.3 To assist with data collection and analysis related to personnel monitoring and patient dose surveys including operation of a thermoluminescent dosimetry system.3.4 To assist in radiation protection surveys and measurements to assesswhether radiation is being used safely and in accordance with the legislationand associated guidance.3.5 To gain an understanding of relevant radiation protection legislation, standards and guidance.3.6 To assist in the preparation of reports and documentation from the results of measurements and/or investigations, using computer generated data, tools and software as appropriate.3.7 To be responsible for completing projects that might be set from time to time by senior members of the team and agreed with the Physicist acting as Supervisor.3.8 To assist in other areas of work from time to time not mentioned above and to undertake such other duties as might be agreed with the Supervisor.3.9 To keep a diary of activities and write a report on the industrial experience, as part of the requirements of the University of Surrey.
