Role Overview:
Provide EHS and CDM support to the small minor works team on site in project delivery. You will be part of the EHS team on site and at times will be required to support with the day-to-day EHS support to our operational teams when required.
1. Assist the local implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives, including project delivery, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment, adherence to related statutory duties and the furthering of best practice standards.
2. Responsible for the co-ordination and provision of all EHS support to the contracts and wholly consistent with EMCOR UK’s and GSK’s EHS policies and procedures.
3. Be a link into the RDES Client EHS and Operational Teams as directed by the EHS Manager.
4. Advise, comply and review EMCOR’s EHS policy and procedures, all legal requirements, and best practice.
5. Assist the project team in ensuring that they are compliant with all EHS: statutory requirements, accredited processes and procedures, contract and Client specific requirements.
6. Report on EHS performance to the EHS Manager monthly and assist the contracts to achieve KPI’s.
7. Support in the review of Risk Assessments.
8. Assist in reporting of all EHS accidents/incidents/near misses ensuring timely investigations are undertaken, comprehensive reports, corrective actions and updates are provided within set timeframes.
9. Ensure that your area of responsibility is compliant with all EHS: statutory requirements, accredited processes and procedures, CDM, contract and client specific requirements.
10. Support initiatives and best practice activities in all areas of EHS Management.
11. Undertake regular structured inspections and audits, as defined by the needs of the contract within the project team and independently minimum weekly.
12. Encourage, support and embed the culture change programme that embraces and supports EHS principles and goals, promoting “Changing the Way we Work Concepts”.
13. Assist in the co-ordination of interactions with relevant statutory bodies and regulatory agencies e.g. Health and Safety Executive.
14. Advise and support the contract management on all EHS issues, promoting accountability and responsibility, and engaging with the project team to empower ownership.
15. Develop close working relationships and networks within the contract, client, supply chain and business to support the advancement of EHS.
16. Provide guidance and practical expertise on all matters related to EHS to both internal and external customers in delivery.
17. Promote and always maintain the Missions and Values of the Company.
18. Support effective business communication through advice, review, direct contribution to management and team meetings, briefings, consultation forums, correspondence, and publicity when required.
19. Assist as necessary with reviews of existing Policies, Procedures, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
20. Bring to the attention of the EHS Manager any hazards or risks not addressed in the Company Safety Policy or procedures.
21. Assist project and operational teams by attending pre-audit reviews and as requested attendance at EHS related client audits.
22. Familiarise, review, contribute and communicate EHS related non-conformance of any external/internal EHS related databases i.e. Sypol, Crimson, Assurity, Intelex etc.
23. Provision of ad hoc and scheduled EHS training as required/directed by the EHS management team.
24. Ensure all new starters are EHS inducted according to the "new starter policy".
25. Assist with the assessment of staff to ensure capacity, capability and competency are maintained.
26. Motivate managers and staff to establish their full contribution to the organisation and ensure all relationships are collaborative.
27. Other EHS related duties when discussed and agreed by the EHS management team.
28. Support teams in driving a positive H&S culture.
Person Specification
Who you'll be:
1. Experienced Health and Safety professional with qualifications/skills including:
2. Understanding of SHE legislation.
3. NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (or working towards).
4. Good Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015.
5. Professional Membership to IOSH (or working towards) and optionally IIRSM.
6. Auditing experience.
7. Ability to provide expert advice on CDM.
8. Methodical and disciplined.
9. Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards.
10. Previous experience in a similar or supporting role.
11. Good oral and written communication skills.
12. Good training skills and ability for public speaking.
13. Ability to positively influence others.
14. Able to work under pressure whilst remaining calm.
15. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
16. Computer literate (i.e. MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other recognised IT systems).
17. Good networking skills and the ability to build/maintain relationships at all levels.
18. Flexible can-do attitude – ability to adapt to certain situations.
