About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units within our company and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
The Hinkley Point C Project is split into programmes aligned to either plant islands or disciplined based scope. Each programme will be delivered in part by EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB) resources and in part through one or more (interrelated) major contracts.
We are looking for a Technical Resolution Lead for General Mechanical and Electrical topics at HPC and you’ll be helping us to make sure we continue to deliver technical excellence for the project.
The successful applicant will be a key member of the wider Technical Branch of the Joint Design Office [JDO] and will be part of a team providing the resolution of critical emergent design issues that span several work areas. The role will give visibility of a wide variety of topics across the project with an open remit to solve technical issues and enhance the resilience of the JDO by mitigating key project risks relating to engineering.
Responsibilities:
* You will be responsible for management or delivery of technical solutions to emergent transverse works issues. The issues will mainly be Mechanical and Electrical engineering topics across several disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC and Civil engineering. The current site activities are predominantly Civil focused with a transition into Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC focused issues with greater safety case implications as the project progresses.
* Building relationships across JDO Operational Branch, Responsible Designer, Project Managers, Contract Managers and the Construction/Installation Contractors.
* Interfacing with Nuclear Services Engineering or HPC Design Authority, where necessary.
* Identifying and implementing initiatives to improve project delivery.
* Participation in Configuration Management Board meetings.
* Contributing to the reporting of JDO KPIs.
Minimum Requirements:
* Some design experience or other project experience is desirable but not essential.
* EPR building, plant and system knowledge is desirable.
* Safety Case Knowledge and previous experience of Nuclear Safety Categorisations is desirable.
* Experience of leading engineers in a management or lead setting.
* Degree in Engineering or other Science.
* Demonstrable evidence of problem solving and stakeholder management.
* Understanding of mechanical interfaces.
