Quarriers What If Female service based in the East end of Glasgow are recruiting a full time Intensive Support Worker to join our dedicated team who deliver support to young females between the ages of 18-25. Our service is a unique housing support service which provides intensive support to people who have experienced trauma in their young lives and who have been affected by childhood experiences, such as abuse, neglect, witnessing experiences such as crime, domestic violence, mental illness, and alcohol / substance abuse, resulting in long-term effects on their behaviour, health and learning.
As an Intensive Support Worker, you will be supporting people transitioning into independent living within their local communities and providing practical support in all aspects of everyday living including emotional/therapeutic support when required. A key part of the role will be to ensure trust is developed with each individual and that you are a reliable consistent support to the young women to allow them to gain a sense of security and resilience.
Working pattern: This is a full time, permanent role offering 39 hours per week. Shifts are managed on an 8-week rolling rota working from 8am – 10pm with 4 out of 8 weekends off.
What you will need to bring to the role
Proven experience of supporting people who are homeless and providing intensive support to people with complex needs.
Compassion, understanding and ability to work under pressure.
Confidence and ability to work with people 1:2:1 and in a community-based setting.
Ability to identify and respond affectively to individual emotional support needs.
Enthusiasm and self-motivation.
Excellent problem solver who is driven by positive outcomes.
Resilient, reliable and an excellent listener.
Excellent communication skills.
Driving licence is desirable as you will be support individuals within their own home and local community.
