Job Title: Lab Technician – 2 Temporary and 2 Permanent Positions Available
Location: Canary Wharf
Shifts: 7am to 3pm or 3pm to 11pm, with a 37.5-hour working week (5 days), including weekends some weeks.
Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Lab Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various laboratory processes related to clinical trials, such as the receipt, processing, and storage of samples, while adhering to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. The ideal candidate will be passionate about scientific research, quality assurance, and contributing to the advancement of healthcare.
As a Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting studies that aim to improve treatment options for common illnesses such as the flu and common cold. This position will involve working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, where safety and precision are key.
Responsibilities:
* Process, store, and transport subject samples according to established analytical plans and GCP standards, ensuring timely milestones are met.
* Produce and maintain all required documentation related to study-specific sample receipt, processing, and storage.
* Perform molecular, cell culture, and assays as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and GCP guidelines.
* Maintain compliance with GCP, relevant SOPs, and company standards.
* Develop laboratory skills as required for assigned projects.
* Operate laboratory equipment including incubators, microbiological safety cabinets, water baths, PH meters, balances, pipettes, centrifuges, microscopes, and more.
* Assist with the production of kits and labelled samples.
* Maintain laboratory housekeeping duties, including emptying waste pots and bins, weekly cleaning of equipment, discarding expired reagents, preparing lab coats for laundry, and ensuring consumables and freezer inventories are maintained.
* Collect and refill liquid nitrogen, and monitor temperature-sensitive equipment excursions.
Requirements:
* Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, with availability for both morning and evening shifts.
* Experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably with clinical trials.
* Knowledge of GCP standards and laboratory safety protocols.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
* Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
* Willingness to attend a full-time training period (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday) for two weeks.
