Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust provides a broad range of community and inpatient mental health services, community services (including therapies), learning disability services, healthy lifestyle support and addictions services to people living in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, a large geographical area which is home to approximately 600,000 people.
The Trust also provides specialist services for children, including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and support for children and young people and their families who are experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties.
Our specialist services, such as forensic support and offender health, support patients from the wider Yorkshire and Humber area and from further afield.
The Trust also runs Whitby Hospital, a community hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and community services to Whitby and the surrounding area, and eight GP practices - two in Hull and six in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Job overview
The Mental Health Inpatient Occupational Therapy Hub are looking for a motivated and compassionate Specialist Occupational Therapist (OT) to work at Westlands Inpatient Unit.
Westlands is an eighteen bedded, female psychiatric unit. Therefore, the successful candidate will be required to have the specialist level of experience, knowledge, and clinical skills to conduct evidence-based OT Assessments and Treatment plans to promote the service user’s occupational identity and performance skills to enable their recovery, health, and wellbeing.
The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, provide clinical supervision to coordinate and develop the therapeutic activities offered across the service, as well as being a part of the OT inpatient Hub supporting and promoting positive changes across the services to ensure the OT provision provided is effective and of a high standard.
Humber employ 80+ OT staff and are part of the wider AHP network. Access to OT Profession network and training to promote personal and professional development is encouraged and is a priority of the Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust. Therefore, the OTs in the mental health services are an integral part of the Mental Health Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Group to ensure they have access to the right support, training, and development opportunities to support and enhance their CPD opportunities.

You will use your Occupational Therapy skills and develop collaborative working relationships with staff and service users.
You will clinically oversee the OT provision ensuring delivery of evidence-based Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions that facilitate recovery and optimising functioning in all areas of daily living, vocation and leisure, within the most enabling environment.
You will be responsible for providing clinical supervision and delegation to the OT support staff to ensure they have the opportunity to grow and develop.
Majority of the Service user interventions take place in the inpatient setting; however, you will also be required to complete community interventions to support and develop independence and community living skills of our service users, as well as developing networks with our community agencies in order to support social inclusion.
You will be an integral part of the Inpatient OT Hub ensuring that Occupational Therapy is at the heart of what you do. There will be opportunities to work on service improvement to support the continued development of the OT and wider service.
You will receive regular clinical/professional supervision from the Advanced Occupational Therapist (Band 7) and have access to a monthly Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and wider OT Network meetings.
The Occupational Therapy Service is committed to undergraduate student education via SLIP training.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Registration with the HCPC
* A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical practice and service
* Specialist knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice, standardised assessments, and their use in practice
* Knowledge and understanding of the evidence-based relevant to the clinical area
* Basic IT
* Experienced and competent practice educator with up to date SLiP training
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level e.g. degree or post graduate level or equivalent knowledge/experiential learning
* Registration within the specialist RCOT sections
* Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to be a Practice Placements for students
