The successful candidate will, amongst other duties, be required to: Work in all sections of the department on a rotational basis Participate in the reception, preparation and documentation of specimens for Histology in accordance with laboratory policies and protocols Participate in specimen processing and the production of histology sections for microscopic examination. This includes cut up, embedding, microtomy, staining and microscopy Participate in simple Biomedical Scientist cut-up Rotate through all sections of the department including the Special Techniques area, which covers Immunocytochemistry and Molecular Pathology Input test requests, including tests, patient demographics, requesting clinician and location for report onto the laboratory computer system in a timely fashion in order to maintain efficient workflow and laboratory turnaround times and taking into account the urgency of the request Participate in the training and teaching of trainee Biomedical Scientists, MLAs and other healthcare professionals
