As Head of Risk Management & Business Resilience, you will have leadership responsibility for the integrity, efficiency and efficacy of the risk management and business continuity frameworks across DVSA, safeguarding the Accounting Officer and the Executive.
In this role you will provide strategic leadership in delivering exemplar risk management, business continuity and incident management functions in line with Civil Service and sector best practice, ensuring the Agency aligns to wider Departmental and Government policies and procedures.
You will champion the delivery of the frameworks, maintain oversight of the team’s delivery, develop organisational insight by maintaining strategic oversight of the organisational risk profile, and provide strategic direction to the team. This will include providing regular contact and consultancy services to senior leaders across the organisation to support organisational improvement.
You will be the first point of contact for risk and business continuity matters, both within DVSA and with external stakeholders, and will ensure effective facilitation of the agency’s Incident Management response. You will collaborate with senior leaders to ensure emerging risks are identified at an early stage, and high-quality reviews are delivered to reduce risks to acceptable levels and improve corporate performance.
You will ensure that appropriate corporate frameworks and exercising regimes are in place and effectively used to identify, monitor and manage risk and associated continuity at all levels of the organisation, ensuring the Agency anticipates and prepares for threats and opportunities that impact its objectives, finances or reputation.
Your key duties and responsibilities will include:
* Ownership of an effective risk identification, evaluation, prioritisation and reporting process meeting Departmental and wider Government guidance.
* Managing Risk Principles and Concepts in line with best practice including those relating to specific areas such as: Information Management, Security, Fraud & Bribery and Health & Safety.
* Ownership of an effective business continuity framework aligned to ISO22301 to help identify threats, and the critical business functions they could impact, ensuring adequate business planning for business resilience.
* Ensuring clear risk management and business resilience policies, procedures and frameworks are available and develop new ideas and best practice to drive continuous improvement within the organisation.
* Maintaining the corporate risk register and updating monthly to ensure the Executive, Directing Board and Department for Transport (DfT) are always briefed on the level of risk exposure.
* Promoting a joined-up approach with strategy & policy development, planning, change delivery, performance and other relevant functions to build robust governance systems.
* Direct line management responsibilities for one SEO and one HEO colleague.
